Novel Ideas

Hat tip to Townie to commented on this novel idea in another forum: training Surface Warfare Officers before they are turned loose on the fleet.

Meanwhile, over in the Army, the USAR activates the 2nd Space Battalion. I remain hopeful that the Army will understand that Space is its future as a service, and reject the notion that only blue-suiters can rise above this beautiful Earth.

Speaking of the USAF, one of its generals recently had an epiphany. Someone get that man some smelling salts!

Interestingly enough, the Army has had something like 18 astronauts, including a warrant officer, CW4 Thomas J. Hennen, in 1991–the only warrant astronaut. I imagine they stopped using warrants for this duty because their coffee cups kept spilling all over the shuttle.
