“Northam calls for taking down Confederate statues in Virginia and moving them to museums”

From the Richmond Times-Dispatch, by way of the Roanoke Times.

That’s Northam ’81, by the way.

Would this mean the statues at VMI, as well?

Picture what post would look like devoid of any image or reference to the Confederacy.

About vmijpp

VMIJPP hails from the star city of the south, Roanoke, Virginia. A 1989 graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, he is a retired artillery officer in the United States Marine Corps, with time in both the active and reserve sides. He served in Iraq in 2004, and in Afghanistan in 2009-2010. He joined the magnificent OPFOR.com as a guest blogger from the now defunct but never uninteresting Rule 308, where he denounced gun control and other aspects of tyranny, and proclaimed the greatness of the United States. When the sun set on OPFOR.com, he migrated here with Keydet1976 and the others.

  1. DaveO says:

    1. No New Market Day parades.
    2. No uniforms reminiscent of America’s slave-holding past (in this case from the Regulars of the War of 1812)
    3. 3rd-Generation postmodernism applied to all areas of study, with assisted-graduation quotas.
    4. No statues, or graves. Even Marshall would have be removed for his offenses of sponsoring the development of nukes and preventing the rebirth of Europe in a glorious communist utopia. And he’s a dead white guy.
    5. Withdrawal of ROTC. 3 of the 4 services provided officers to the Confederacy, and defeated communists in Korea and Vietnam and the Cold War. The USAF can stay so long as the SJW don’t figure out the difference between the USAF and the USAAF.
    6. Since VMI already has various student tribunals for honor and discipline, a repurposing of them to discipline faculty and staff. Violently.
    7. Renaming of memorials such as JM Hall to the Fred & Ethel Rosenberg Hall of Loyalty.
    8. The devaluation of VMI’s degrees.

Ridiculous? Similar are being done American campuses, and VMI is completely responsive to the whims of Virginia’s governor, who is looking to bolster his street cred with the commies who own the Democrat Party.
