Happy New Market Day!

New Market Day greetings to all members of the VMI family!

We had a great alumni gathering today in the large and curious building where I work; a gratifying spectacle indeed! The senior alumnus on deck even stopped by and was kind enough to answer up for the four (4) cadets from Company D when we read out the Roll of Honor.

I hope you were (or are still) able to gather wherever you may be, with at least one or two alumni to raise a hat or glass or helmet to those cadets who went before us.

May they never be forgotten.

A 1989 graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, he is a retired artillery officer in the United States Marine Corps, with time in both the active and reserve sides. He served in Iraq in 2004, and in Afghanistan in 2009-2010. He joined the magnificent OPFOR.com as a guest blogger from the now defunct but never uninteresting Rule 308, where he denounced gun control and other aspects of tyranny, and proclaimed the greatness of the United States. When the sun set on OPFOR.com, he migrated here with Keydet1976 and the others.

    I watched it online.

It was odd, as the Charlie Company Commander apparently a female; when answering for Cadet Sergeant Wheelwright, I heard something I have never heard before:

“Died on the field of honor, ma’am!”
