Sigsauer P320

Yesterday I purchased a new Sigsauer P320 Pistol.  It is one of the contenders to be the next military sidearm the XM17.  While I have no way of knowing which weapon will be chosen, the P320 may be the ideal candidate.  It is truly a modular handgun, as the frame can be swapped out based on the shooters hand size, more importantly the caliber and size (fullsize, compact, or subcompact) can be changed easily as the only serial number item is the firing mechanism.  Have not had a chance to shoot it but will do so this weekend.  I have already field stripped the weapon and it is easy.  It is a striker fired weapon; and the commercial version does not come with a safety; however Sigsauer had an optional manual safety that can be added.  I suspect that the military will require a safety–as it must protect itself from the inevitable ability of Joe to screw up.

More to follow. . .

Serializing a removable fire-control module is brilliant and revolutionary.
