Gun-Day Monday: Another Article on the Steyr Scout Rifle

We’ve discussed it before, and most of you will know that I’m an advocate of this rifle and the philosophy behind it, but here’s a really good article on Cooper’s Scout Rifle. Good photos too.

For some reason the rifle is no longer being offered as a package, which is how Cooper wanted it, but the author gives us suggestions about outfitting it– the first being that the author points us toward the Burris Scout Scope instead of the Leupold; my experience is solely with the Leupold, and I did not realize that Burris had an offering as well. The second is that he suggests using the excellent Ching Sling by Andy Langlois.

The Steyr Scout remains the general purpose rifle, the Rifleman’s Rifle, and that’s exactly how Cooper wanted it. You might consider acquiring one.
