Infuriating: Sailors Refuse to Stand for National Anthem

Sad, but true.

The anti-anthem protest movement spawned by San Francisco 49s Quarterback Colin Kaepernick is now spreading beyond the sports world and into such unlikely corners as the U.S. military.

A report on military.com says two U.S. service members are facing administrative action for refusing to stand during the playing of the U.S. national anthem.

I’d like to ask, What the hell is going on here?? But the answer is clear: fundamental transformation.

The Navy needs to excise this cancer from its ranks, immediately. Fat chance of that happening, if you know the modern Navy.

We are headed for an ugly wake-up.

Yikes. The obvious question for these guys is- why did they join up, if that’s the way they feel?

These sailors should be made an example of with swift, but fair, NJP based on the facts of their cases just as IS2 Erwin was. She lost her clearance, and her naval career is over as an IS without it (whether or not she realizes that now or not). Personally, it breaks my heart to see my fellow sailors exercising such poor judgment to espouse their political beliefs and ruining their careers because of their personal feelings on the social state of the US. We all know the standards and regulations (especially in uniform), and observance of these regulations is required regardless of your feelings on the matter. While she is entitled to her opinions, her professional performance shows a complete disregard for leadership, integrity, and the Navy Core Values. Hopefully, others will think twice about how they portray themselves live and on social media, especially in uniform. Their careers could very well be at stake.

Sitting down for the anthem isn’t a cure, or much of a political statement. Many legless, paraplegic and very ill people don’t stand for the anthem. Not standing for the anthem is pretty gutless in terms of protesting actually. Too bad the sailors did not opt to vote and work within the system.
