National Security as Fanfiction

Fanfiction is a body of literature and visual art that interprets a popular writer’s creation and extends the fun of it. One popular target for fanfiction is Sherlock Holmes. Since 2009 America and the world have been treated to new takes on familiar characters:  Edmund Blackadder as National Security Advisor to Bertie Wooster.

In their latest tale, entitled „Whoops!,“ Wooster is reminded of what he forgot.

President Barack Obama twice appointed former Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn to key national security jobs in his administration, including as deputy director of national intelligence and later as director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, yet he never once met with Flynn face to face. [emphasis added]

Now, if only we could put Noel Coward in charge of Obamacare.

Again, the PG Wodehouse reference made me laugh out loud.

But the essence of the article doesn’t make me laugh out loud.

    More than sad– tragic.

Yes, but a tragi-comedy in that one party is held to such an incredibly high standard of performance in governing, while the other only has to… take from the makers and keep most for themselves and give some to the looters in exchange for votes, no education and the racial genocide of non-caucasians. This is called „progress.“
