In the wake of the Dallas killings and in view of the imminent political conventions (one in particular), how does the ammo situation stand? I glanced at some of the more well-known online retailers to see if they were reporting delays or shortages, or if there were marked rises in prices.
SGAmmo.com reports “SHIPPING DELAY DUE TO VERY HIGH ORDER VOLUME” but no severe or across-the-board shortages, nor significant price spikes.
AIM Surplus, Wideners, AmmoMan, Midway USA and Lucky Gunner have no indications on delays or shortages, nor do they show price spikes (so far as I could see). AmmoMan even posted, “Bulk Ammo Ready to Move Today.”
I expect SGAmmo’s “very high order volume” is not exclusive to them, but it suggests that the industry is capable of absorbing a demand spike. Will that last? Just the other day, the great Mr Farnam quipped, “Our unstable political climate, underscored by today’s utter capitulation by our “FBI” and its current “Director,” is prompting many to resume buying reserves of small-arms ammunition, particularly 7.62×51 (308) and 5.56×45 (223). Local retailers here in CO are already reporting short supplies. Inventories of brass-cased, domestically-manufactured rifle ammunition will be very low [locally?] by this weekend, according to my sources.”
Stable supplies and reasonable prices amid conditions like these indicate that YOU should make some acquisitions in the very near future.
