The Army Again Shoots Itself in the Foot

Read this over at Tom Ricks Blog, and what the two officers is not only true, but the Army biggest action going right is the “All Things Europe” OPT.

    I agree with the two authors–those of us who’ve had to do civil affairs work, even for a short time (running/supporting a refugee camp before the Red Cross could take over after the ceasefire in the Gulf War) realize how vital this is–I think part of the problem is that CA doesn’t fit neatly into a branch–they’re not AG, engineers, MPs, QM, or anything else–like SF and Aviation, they should probably be on their own–get a post and a school. OTOH, this is kind of issue that shows just how limiting our branch-centric Army really is. Time to maybe let it go.
