Churchill and His Champagne

Many thanks to the discerning eye of USMC0802 for sending this along, about a new book on Winston Churchill’s extravagant tastes and expenditures:

Churchill started his day with whisky, but it was champagne that was his truest passion — and now, for the first time, we get a glimpse into the extent to which that passion imperiled his already threadbare bank balance.

One can find much of this in Manchester’s excellent bio of the great man, especially, if memory serves me right, in the superb first chapter of the second volume. But one cannot have too much of a truly good thing, so more of the same is very welcome.

Oh, yes indeed. I think I simply must have a copy. 🙂
