Catching up on some issues that have been on the docket, here. From more than one of you loyal and sharp-eyed readers come this:
Marines across the Corps will be challenged on their unconscious prejudices and presuppositions as women get the opportunity to become grunts for the first time.
The Marine Corps is rolling out mandatory training for all Marines before the first future female rifleman hits boot camp, aiming to set conditions for a smooth transition and head off cultural resistance.
Mobile training teams will be dispatched to installations across the Corps throughout May and June to offer a two-day seminar to majors and lieutenant colonels, Col. Anne Weinberg,
Peoples‘ Commissar for Involuntary Behavioral Modificationdeputy director of the Marine Corps Force Innovation Office, told reporters Thursday. Those officers will then train the Marines under them.
I’ve been around the Marine Corps for, oh, almost thirty years now, and I haven’t the slightest idea what a „Force Innovation Office“ is or what legitimate purpose it might serve. I do know what the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab is, and what it does. But a „Force Innovation Office“ sounds awfully suspect. And I do mean awfully.
So, while O&M funds are being slashed, maintenance is deferred, even as demands for Marine forces across the globe are increased and Marines themselves are locked in combat, this abomination is rammed down our throats.
It’s going to take a long time to reverse the decline and rebuild readiness and capability. And at what cost? Because someone, male and female, is going to pay that cost. Anyone else feeling fundamentally transformed?
