This Is Sure to Enhance Readiness!

SecDef sez let women in all combat jobs.

One of the last things we needed. Smart man, stupid decision.

Only a nation fundamentally unserious about its own defense would do something so idiotic. I only hope that we don’t incur too many casualties before we reverse the policy.

About vmijpp

VMIJPP hails from the star city of the south, Roanoke, Virginia. A 1989 graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, he is a retired artillery officer in the United States Marine Corps, with time in both the active and reserve sides. He served in Iraq in 2004, and in Afghanistan in 2009-2010. He joined the magnificent OPFOR.com as a guest blogger from the now defunct but never uninteresting Rule 308, where he denounced gun control and other aspects of tyranny, and proclaimed the greatness of the United States. When the sun set on OPFOR.com, he migrated here with Keydet1976 and the others.

I think it is about time. On the other hand, a woman I know and deeply respect, a retired Marine Colonel, disagrees.
In law, the real question is usually: “How much.” In the Military, the real question is usually: “How effectively?”
    We shall see.

The problem is that the Army is going to fuck this up so much…standards will be lowered IOT have females on the line. The Canadians and the British do have females in line units, they made them meet the standards required of men.

Scandinavia militaries have had women in infantry units for years: http://carryingthegun.com/2014/05/08/women-in-the-infantry-a-reflection-on-the-experiences-of-allied-nations/
Standards, of course, are key. As long as it costs us over $500,000 to recruit and train an enlisted person, figuring out how to put the right person in the right job has to be the most important consideration.
